Chapter 7 - THE CLINIC UNDER MY NAME

I wanted Harrison dismissed immediately.
He did not argue.
“I violated the charter,” he said. “Your father learned today.”
“Why track me?”
“A threat referenced your route and Maya’s preschool.”
“You could have asked.”
“I believed you would refuse.”
“That is not consent.”
“No.”
The same logic had moved through every powerful person in my life.
I know better.
You may resist.
Therefore I decide.
Adrian accepted Harrison’s resignation from active security duties while an independent review began.
He did not excuse him because the tracker later produced useful evidence.
The information itself faced legal limitations. It had been gathered improperly by a private actor. Police could use it as a lead but needed independent grounds before searching the clinic.
Those grounds came from insurance records.
My name appeared on eleven psychiatric appointments at Willow Crest Wellness Center.
I had attended none.
Dr. Marcus Bell billed the Vance Foundation instead of my insurer, leaving no notice in my patient portal.
He created progress notes describing delusions, rage, and fixation on my father’s wealth.
Julian signed as “collateral informant.”
The clinic reserved a private room for the night of Victor’s party.
The schedule read:
ELEANOR VANCE — ACUTE STABILIZATION AFTER FAMILY EVENT.
A transport team had been instructed to collect me if I became “physically resistant.”
Their authorization relied on the false medical declaration and Julian’s substituted spousal-consent page.
Police searched the clinic after obtaining a warrant from billing, message, and document evidence—not from Harrison’s tracker alone.
They recovered sedatives, blank commitment forms, and a recording kit.
The plan was to film me after medication and present the confusion as proof of illness.
Dr. Bell was arrested for medical-record fraud, unlawful prescribing conspiracy, and attempted unlawful confinement.
The clinic director claimed she trusted his credentials.
Emails showed she questioned the lack of direct examination, then accepted a large Vance Foundation donation.
Regulators suspended the clinic’s license pending review.
Harrison’s conduct still mattered.
I terminated every remaining Blackwood security access to my devices and home. A court-approved protective service replaced it temporarily, with visible equipment and my written consent.
Adrian did not object.
“I taught good men to believe urgency excused permission,” he said.
“You also created the charter.”
“After hurting your mother.”
“Do you expect forgiveness because you learned?”
“No.”
The answer was the first reason I considered rebuilding a relationship with him.
Victor Vance provided his private ledger to prosecutors.
It showed that Julian and Victoria had diverted $186 million from Vance Legacy’s employee pension reserve into development projects, then concealed the shortfall through false valuations.
The Locke Tower project, the Bellhaven resort, and Genevieve’s consulting company absorbed the money.
If the lender default became public, investigators would find it.
The custody scheme and my false incapacity were designed not only to control Blackwood votes.
They were intended to force a refinancing before the pension theft surfaced.
The following morning, Vance Legacy filed for court-supervised restructuring.
Victoria blamed me in a public statement.
Then the pension administrator found one payment made directly to an account in my name.
Four million dollars.
I had never seen the account.

But the transfer description read:
ELEANOR BLACKWOOD — SPOUSAL CONSENT FEE.
