Dr. Karen Miles testified before the professional and criminal investigators.
The genuine counseling records showed postpartum anxiety after Lily’s birth, grief after my mother’s death, and successful completion of treatment.
No hallucinations.
No violent thoughts.
No neglect.
Donna’s altered copies transformed ordinary vulnerability into evidence of danger.
Brian admitted he gave Donna the original records.
He said he believed she wanted to help prepare his custody attorney.
He knew I had not consented.
The prosecution added unlawful use of protected records and further forgery-related allegations where supported.
Hawthorne Behavioral Consulting’s owner accepted professional sanctions and a criminal plea concerning false billing and participation in the fabricated report.
He repaid the twenty thousand dollars to Lily’s education account.
The account was transferred to an independent custodian.
Brian could no longer control withdrawals.
The criminal cases separated.
Brian pleaded guilty to domestic battery, conspiracy to commit financial fraud, attempted coercion, identity-theft facilitation, and child endangerment.
More serious counts alleging he personally created every forged document were dismissed because evidence showed Donna and Paula produced many of them.
He admitted using the results.
Donna rejected a plea that required her to acknowledge intentionally delaying Lily’s care.
“She received medicine,” Donna told the judge during a pretrial hearing. “Her mother turned a fever into a spectacle.”
Dr. Shah testified that Lily had influenza, pneumonia, dehydration, and reduced oxygen saturation.
Waiting another hour could have increased risk.
The exact outcome could not be predicted.
The intentional delay remained dangerous regardless of whether catastrophe occurred.
Donna proceeded to trial.
Her defense portrayed Brian as a desperate unemployed husband who exploited his elderly mother’s company.
Donna was sixty-three, healthy, and the author of most messages.
Age did not convert authority into innocence.
Aunt Paula testified.
Sabrina testified.
Aunt Cheryl testified.
The bank’s fraud examiner and forensic accountant explained the money.
Dr. Miles explained the altered records.
I testified about the door, the thermometer, the slap, and the phone call.
Donna’s attorney asked why I called my father instead of Brian’s relatives.
“Brian’s relatives were sitting at the table.”
The courtroom became silent.
After six days, the jury deliberated.
They convicted Donna of financial fraud, identity theft, forgery conspiracy, attempted coercion, child endangerment, obstruction, evidence fabrication, and witness influence.
They acquitted her of one count alleging she intended Brian to strike me because the evidence did not prove she ordered the slap.
The verdict was precise.
She helped build the trap.
Brian chose the blow.
At sentencing, one final financial exhibit was introduced.
Donna had created a spreadsheet assigning values to every family member.
Brian: business control.
Paula: notary access.
Cheryl: social credibility.
Stephen: investor.
Lily: custody leverage.
